Bank statements and reconciliation
Import a bank statement, see each line matched to the entry it came from, confirm the matches, and deal with the lines only the bank knew about.
Transcript
Reconciling the bank means proving every line on the statement is in your books, and every bank entry in your books is on the statement.
Import the statement
Before importing, the books hold entries no statement has confirmed yet. Choose the file exactly as the bank exported it — CSV, Excel, PDF, OFX or MT940. The same file can never be imported twice.
Why a line matched
Each line arrives with the entries it most likely came from, scored on amount, reference, date and party. Open a score to see why. Here two rent payments have the same amount; the date tells them apart. Confirm the right one. Nothing is posted until you do.
Lines only the bank knew
Bank charges are on the statement but not yet in the books. Falcon suggests the ledger; you post it or save it as a draft.
The position
As lines are confirmed, the reconciliation position shows what is left on each side — until the difference is explained. Falcon. Start free.
